Welcome to the Westmont Public Library’s online reference pages. Here you will find links to a wide variety of useful web sites, many of which are used by our librarians to answer the equally wide variety of questions asked of them on a daily basis. You will also find information on the many Reference services available at the library.

About Us

Our highly-skilled reference librarians are always available during library hours to answer your questions or assist you in solving a research problem. You can reach the department by phone at 630-969-5625, ext. 4. Or you can send us your questions electronically by using our Ask a Librarian form.

Reference Services

Below are some of the resources available at the Reference Department. Just click on a link to learn more about each service. The Reference staff is always available to explain any of these resources.

Electronic Databases. Learn about the many general and specialized electronic databases available in the reference department. Many of them are fully searchable by key words.

Internet Access. Find out how to access the Internet in the library.

Reserves. Do you want a book that is currently checked out? Let us reserve it in your name.

Interlibrary Loan. Looking for a book that the library doesn’t own? Have us request it from another library.

Software and Typewriters for Patron Use. Find out how you can use the library’s typewriter, as well as the popular software packages available on several workstations in the reference department.

Annual reports for many Fortune 1000 companies

Consumer information, including the last five years of Consumer Reports and N.A.D.A. vehicle price guides.

Westmont ’s municipal and zoning codes

Old Westmont newspapers, including the Town Times, from 1944-55; and the Westmont Progress, from 1955-1999.

Specialized indexes to printed materials including a 100-year index to the National Geographic, a 40-year index to American Heritage Magazine, etc.
