the library. Mrs. Velma Evans became the first part-time librarian. |

The Village voted to support the library with tax

The American Legion Post 338 donated land
for the Westmont Public Library.

The new library opened with Mrs. Dwight

The Francis S. Maier Children's Wing was

Expansion and remodeling completed.

Bond issue referendum
passed 1334 to 935 for the new library building on November 7, 1989.
Ground-breaking ceremonies were held on July 29, 1990.

The new 28,000 square foot building
opened in January. The dedication was held on April 18, 1993.

The Library Board was successful in
achieving a $550,000 settlement on construction problems. |
